Jessica’s Story
An unspeakable past becomes a bright future!
Eleven years ago, Jessica came to The Fold as a 6 year old little girl. She had endured some unfortunate and difficult circumstances. She is still unable to talk about her past, but hopes that someday she will be able to share with others.
Remembering when she first came to The Fold, she says, “I was so excited to be welcomed into a new family . . . a new world where I would be loved and cared for.”
We have enjoyed watching Jessica grow up, going from a quiet and somber 6 year old into a confident, graceful and beautiful young woman. She says, “I’ve learned how Jesus uses everything in our lives, no matter how painful or how good, to draw us closer to Him.”
Her desire is to be a good role model to all the younger children who still have a long journey ahead of them. She does that by helping the house-moms care for the younger children at The Fold, sharing at Bible study, and volunteering as a camp counselor.
Jessica was voted as student body President of her school and has just completed her last year of high school and completed her exams. Her plan is to study teaching at The University of Limpopo. Jessica says, “I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be part of The Fold family, and to all the people who have donated money to make The Fold possible”. She is committed to serving The Lord and has hope for her future, not only here on earth but for eternity as well.
But her story is just one of many at The Fold. In South Africa, countless children feel hopeless. They live in extreme poverty, deal with horrific abuse, and have limited access to education.
It breaks our heart, it breaks your heart, and it breaks God’s heart.
That's why we rescue kids, offer shelter, and provide a biblically based education, resulting in 35 vulnerable children having access to a safe home, a record setting school, and an introduction to Jesus, giving them hope for today and eternity.
The work we do wouldn’t be possible without you. And we know the work will continue to grow as we work together to meet the need.
We want to hear more stories like Jessica’s . . . more stories of children receiving support and encouragement in a stable, loving environment, where they are able to thrive, and fulfill their God given purpose.
We need your help - your gift of $35 a month can sponsor a child - giving them the safety, love and education they need so they can focus on healing and dream of their future . . . a future of hope through Jesus Christ.
We know you care about what God cares about. He has called us to care for the least of these - join us today. Jessica, her classmates, and future classmates will thank you.
PS - please don’t be quick to delete this message - a child is counting on your generous heart.
