GOD even works through DISRUPTION
May 13, 2023
It is amazing witnessing what God can do outside of our own timing. Having a delayed flight may have been a setback in our eyes, but in God’s eyes the delay had its own perfect reasoning. Little did I or the team know, arriving 4 days late would not hinder some of the most beautiful, intentional, and spiritual moments of our trip so far.
On Wednesday, May 10th, the team visited The Fold and were welcomed with open arms and warm smiles. We discussed the story of Noah and how, even though he was considered different, even crazy for building a huge boat, he still trusted God. Afterward, there were many activities associated with the story of Noah that were enjoyed by all. Bright eyed and excited, the team and children said their goodbyes for the first day, all looking forward to what the rest of the week had in store.
On Thursday, May 11th morning, the team got to engage with the kids during their gym class. After many relay races, intense rock paper scissor matches, and a couple of dance breaks, the teams and kids got to enjoy their time together in the best ways. In the afternoon, the team taught about Saul, and his spiritual transformation of hurting to loving, ultimately leading to his name change to Paul. The children were introduced to the analogy of the butterfly, and how its change can be beautiful, just like being a Christian can be. After butterfly crafts, a blind relay and pin the tail on the donkey, kids experienced first-hand what Paul had to witness when going blind and changing in the story.
Friday, May 12th focused on the story of Esther and her bravery for standing up for her people as well as her faith. Crowns were made, sticker faces were created, and red-light green light was played. The day consisted of many goofy faces, hula hooping, and dancing. Afterward, witnessing a beautiful sunset was the best way to wrap up the day.
Saturday, May 13th was a fulfilling day. After spending quality time with the kids, the team explained the stories of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego, and their faithfulness to God despite the consequences of the fiery furnace and the lion’s den. The time together as a group is always so amazing to experience, so four hours felt like four minutes and, before anyone knew it, it was time for the team to leave for the day.
God is so good when reflecting on His consistency and hope throughout each story of the Bible and our trip so far. Myself and the team are looking forward to what else God has in store for the rest of our time here.
